Everyone got a chance to ride the brilliant race arena yesterday in the qualifiers. The course was fast and confusing, hundreds of meters of red tap wiggling in the wind in front of you as you wound through the glass-steel buildings and along the docks. Some racers stressed to the core while others sailed around smoothly with a smile on their face and it was hard to tell who was smashing it and who was crumbling. 60 made it through to today’s final, there will be fewer of the smilers about. We’ll be cheering on all the Sydney boys who made it through and the friends we made along the way on the group ride. It would be amazing if Smokin could win after all the work he put into the Pre-Event and Group Ride and on top of that to win it in Australia but, the young Wobblecock winning would be mind melting as well.
